it does not make sense for the Defense Department to purchase MRAPs in large numbers.&quot;<\/em><\/p>\n<p> \tBut that&#39;s precisely what the Defense Department has been doing as it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.almc.army.mil\/alog\/issues\/SepOct11\/Incorporating_MRAPs_Structure.html\">purchased&nbsp;another 5,244<\/a> MRAPs in 2009 despite the fact that &quot;thousands of first-generation MRAPs now sit in southwest Asia and are not part of the Army&#39;s documented force structure&quot;
